During this second chapter of the A320 story, the aircraft is built by Airbus’ partner companies across Europe and rolled out during a 1987 ceremony attended by VIP guests in Toulouse, France. The new aircraft completes its maiden flight days later, proving worthy of Airbus’ innovative predecessors. Pierre Baud, chief test pilot during this first takeoff, is interviewed.
