NACRE is a joint European effort in which Airbus manages some 36 industrial, research and university partners that work on new aircraft concepts. Project leader Joao Frota discusses this initiative, as well as the challenge of creating more comfortable, environmentally-friendly and cost-efficient aircraft for the future. Futuristic concepts are shown, such as a stingray-shaped “flying wing” that can seat up to 1,000 passengers.
